George Fiddes Watt RSA RP LLD (1873 -1960) Having begun his painting career in Aberdeen, he established himself in Edinburgh by portraying many of the luminaries of his time. Demands on his talent led him to move his studio and family to London where he continued his work until retirement and eventual return to Aberdeen.

Alexander Stuart Watt
(1909 -1967) Born in Edinburgh the third son of George Fiddes Watt, he settled in Paris after the Second World war. Here he developed a career in journalism covering art and gastronomy. He was a regular contributor for the Daily Telegraph and also wrote for Art in America, Studio magazine and Apollo magazine. Culinary guides and gastronomy books were also published such as "Paris Cuisine" with James Beard, and "The Art of Simple French Cookery."
